Our strict formulation charter

Our obsession is to purify the formulations of our products to ensure maximum tolerance for sensitive skin. We integrate the highest percentage of natural ingredients for optimal effectiveness.

For you, we want absolute transparency.

0% Parabens, MIT, Mineral oils, Phenoxyethanol, Lauryl sulfates, Phthalates, Silicones, Benzophenones, BHA-BHT, Endocrine disruptors, Alkylphenols, Lilial, Nanoparticles, Aluminum, Polyethylene glycol, EDTA, Formaldehyde...

Why do we ban these ingredients from our formulations?

We know that more and more of you want to understand what you put on your skin and really pay attention to the ingredients contained in current dermo-cosmetics.

That's why we are committed to clearly explaining our formulation charter to you..

Banned Ingredients

Endocrine disruptors are chemical substances suspected of disrupting or interfering with our hormonal system. They have the ability to mimic or block the action of hormones. These also could be largely responsible for the increase in many disorders and pathologies (infertility, hormone-dependent cancers, diabetes, etc.)

  • Parabens
  • Phenoxyethanol
  • Phthalates Triclosan
  • Cyclotetra and Cyclopentasiloxane
  • BHA-BHT
  • Benzophenones
  • Butylphenyl methylpropional (lilial)
  • Ethylhexyl methoxycinnamate
  • Butylene glycol
  • Alkylphenols: Nonylphenol, nonoxynol, octylphenol, O-phenylphenol, propylphenol, amylphenol, heptylphenol, dodecylphenol, methylphenol (or cresol), ethylphenol (or xylenol), 4-tert-octylphenol

The following ingredients may irritate the eyes, skin, respiratory system, or cause allergies.

  • Benzophenones
  • Butylphenyl methylpropional (lilial)
  • MIT
  • PEG (polyethylene glycol)
  • Formaldehyde or formaldehyde releasers*
  • EDTA (ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid)
  • Sodium lauryl sulfate

  • Aluminum
  • Formaldehyde or formaldehyde releasers
  • MIT
  • PEG (polyethylene glycol)
  • BHA
  • Alkylphenols: Nonylphenol, nonoxynol, octylphenol, O-phenylphenol, propylphenol, amylphenol, heptylphenol, dodecylphenol, methylphenol (or cresol), ethylphenol (or xylenol), 4-tert-octylphenol
  • Nanoparticles (including mineral filters)

In recent years, nanoparticles have raised concern and controversy. They are found in creams, make-up products, toothpastes and suncare products. They are used as UV filters, thickeners or dispersants.

These particles are smaller than cells. Due to their small size, they can penetrate and diffuse into living organisms (by ingestion, inhalation or by passing the epidermal barrier). They also have an impact on the environment, especially when used in suncare products.

The following ingredients are petrochemical-derived and not biodegradable. The biodegradability of a product is its ability to decompose totally or partially in the environment. The ecological impact of these ingredients is very significant when integrated into cosmetic products, they are rinsed off and go into the waste water. Once the water is treated, the products are discharged into rivers and oceans.

  • PEG (polyethylene glycol)
  • Silicones: dimethicone, cyclopentasiloxane, cyclotetrasiloxane, cyclomethicone
  • Mineral oils: paraffin, petroleum, white oil, vaseline, silicone quaternium, methylsilanol and microcrystalline wax
  • EDTA (ethylene diamino tetraacetate) GMOs
  • Sodium lauryl sulfate
  • Toluene

Many UV filters are nowadays criticized because they threaten seabeds and may be harmful to health. To develop a skin and marine ecosystem friendly range, we have banned two types of filters:

Classic chemical filters, which destroy coral and are suspected to be endocrine disruptors.

  • Octocrylene
  • Ethylhexyl salicylate
  • Homosalate
  • Ethylhexyl methoxycinnamate (octinoxate)
  • Benzophenone-3 (oxybenzone)
  • 4-methylbenzylidene camphor
  • Isoamyl p-methoxycinnamate

Mineral filters are present in some suncare products in nanoparticle form. These ingredients are not harmful as such because their origin is natural, but their nanoparticle form is problematic. Due to their small size, nanoparticles can be inhaled by humans when present in a spray and are toxic to coral and phytoplankton.

  • Titanium dioxide [nano]
  • Zinc oxide [nano]

In accordance with European legislation, our products are not tested on animals.

In addition, our entire range is vegan. Our products do not contain ingredients of animal origin, with the exception of:

  • Our Nourishing Mask, our SOS Repair Balm, our Liniment and our Mon Petit La Rosée Moisturizing Cream, which contain beeswax.
  • Our Nourishing Tinted Lip Balm contains a non-vegan natural colorant.

Beeswax has been used in cosmetics for centuries for its nourishing and protective properties, but the issue of protecting biodiversity arises when it is harvested. Large pieces of hives can be crushed by the machines that collect the wax and kill a large number of bees. Fortunately, some companies have become aware of the problem and have found alternatives to this process, using wax collected from naturally fallen pieces.

Aware of this problem at La Rosée, we have chosen to work with three French suppliers, who respect these good practices and are EcoVadis certified.

The fragrance question

At La Rosée, we combine safety, tolerance and an enjoyable experience. So we have chosen to put fragrances in our products. The vast majority of our fragrances are 100% naturally derived.

However, some may contain fragrance substances, called "labelable allergens". These are not ingredients added as such in the formula, but they are an integral part of the fragrance.

These fragrances are subject to strict regulation and mandatory labeling on the packaging above a certain level.

According to the European Scientific Committee for Consumer Safety, 1 to 3% of the European population is allergic to a fragrance ingredient.

As the dosages are very low, the risks for people who are sensitive to these substances are minimal.

With this strict charter of ingredients that we ban from our formulations, you can trust the composition of our products blindly.
