Planète Urgence is working in 8 countries to:

• Protect forests.
• Reforest affected areas.
• Preserve the irreplaceable biodiversity of animal and plant species, as well as the people who depend on them.

It is active in countries where there is a combination of deforestation risks, exceptional biodiversity, and economically or climatically vulnerable populations.

Forests are the lungs of the planet.

• They play a key role in the water cycle.
• They provide a home for many animal species.
• They absorb CO2, the main greenhouse gas responsible for climate change.
• They constitute a natural resource used by a third of the world's population for their vital needs: construction, heating, cooking, etc.

They are therefore essential for climate balance, biodiversity preservation, and for protecting the women and men who depend on it!

Deforestation threatens the lives of entire communities, their ancestral territories, nature, the ecosystem services on which they depend, and their traditional wisdom.

Thanks to the partnership we have with Planète Urgence, we are becoming a player in the fight against climate change. As a result, we contribute to the preservation of biodiversity and the stimulation of the local economy.

Since July 2019, we have been working alongside this association, supporting its TAPIA project in Madagascar and its MERCI project in Indonesia.

We have planted over 100,000 trees in these countries, where deforestation is massive.

In Madagascar

We participated in the restoration of the ecosystem through the reforestation of the tapia, an endemic tree severely impacted by human actions.

The tapia forest is one of the remarkable ecosystems of the Big Island, where it plays a key ecological role: conservation of water sources, stabilization of watersheds, protection of soils from erosion, preservation of fertility, and abundant biodiversity. It provides resources on which local communities are heavily dependent.

In 2023, we strengthened our commitment in this country by supporting the FORÊT program, which covers several projects:

• MOSOTY: sustainable restoration of degraded mangroves in Analava.
• TAPIA: preservation of the tapia forest.
• DIABE: reforestation and preservation of forests, development of the local economy.

In Indonesia

In Indonesia, we planted mangroves.

This ecosystem is undergoing massive degradation due to land use change, infrastructure development, and the establishment of industries like tourism and fishing.

Mangrove planting protects an ecosystem that promotes fish reproduction. Therefore, the survival of fishermen.

We have also participated in the restoration of the natural habitat of the white rhinoceros, which are endangered species!

Continue our commitment to the Tapia project in Madagascar.

Support a new project in Benin to contribute to the protection, conservation, and management of sacred forests in Bassila and Djougou.

Participate in financing the Planet Education project, which supports teachers and children in key forest areas to integrate environmental education into schools.

• Collect fragments of coral, transplant them onto new structures, and monitor their growth.
• Gather scientific data for the successful preservation of restored reefs.
• Conduct awareness campaigns aimed at younger generations.

When it is damaged or broken, coral can't regenerate naturally if it is not attached to a support.

The Coral Planters restores coral reefs by transplanting corals onto coral structures.

It collects coral fragments from its nurseries and transplants them into new structures to create reefs that will grow over time. This will attract many species of fish, which will spread naturally. The healthy growth of the coral is regularly monitored.

The Coral Planters also runs education programs, especially in schools.

Just as trees are vital for land ecosystems, coral reefs are crucial for marine environments!

• Coral reefs are home to 25% of ocean biodiversity: over 2 million different fish species live there, including phytoplankton, which is at the base of the food chain.
• They naturally protect coasts from storms, cyclones, tsunamis, and other weather events.
• They are a food and pharmaceutical resource.
• They are a source of income: they ensure the livelihood of several million people around the world through fishing.

The loss of corals would cause reef ecosystems to collapse worldwide.

Alongside The Coral Planters, we are helping safeguard and replant coral in the Maldives.

In 2022, we helped plant over 4,000 coral fragments, that is 100 entire reefs.

• Finance the planting of 130 new coral reefs.
• Help The Coral Planters establish a presence in a new territory and create their first marine base.
• Support the Edu'Coral program that offers educational workshops for children to raise awareness about protecting the oceans.

• Production of drinking water at very low cost.
• Provide free drinking water distribution in rural schools.
• Empower local communities by recruiting, training and supporting local entrepreneurs.

1001fontaines is an innovative alliance; that of philanthropy and social entrepreneurship.

Concretely, 1001fontaines creates social mini-enterprises: water kiosks, installed in isolated rural villages, which purify the water available locally.

Built close to communities, these water kiosks allow the production of healthy water at very low cost, thanks to a sustainable entrepreneurial model.

They are entrusted to a local entrepreneur, trained by 1001fontaines, to bottle the water in 20-liter bottles and deliver it to homes for an affordable price of about 2 cents per liter. They also commit to distributing up to 20% of their daily water production to schools for free.

In parallel, every month, local teams provide coaching to entrepreneurs and ensure that the quality of the water meets the standards of the WHO (World Health Organization).

Water is the source of everything, and its scarcity creates a vicious circle:

Absence of drinking water → spread of diseases→ barrier to employment and education → obstacle to economic development → maintain poverty.

1 in 4 people worldwide lack safe drinking water. This shortfall kills over 2.6 million people annually, mostly children.

Access to drinking water in schools can reduce absenteeism by 75% as it improves working conditions and girls are freed from water collection chores to attend classes.

In 2022, La Rosée decided to become a Water Angel by supporting the Water in School program, which allows children to drink drinking water every day at school.

We helped more than 11,500 children in Cambodia, this means 20 entire schools.

In 2023, we strengthened our commitment by financing the construction of a water kiosk in Cambodia and we also continue to support the Water in School program.

Meet a need of 1001fontaines by increasing our support for the Water in School program in 2024, with the goal of helping 35,000 children.

Its objective is to enable young girls, through quality education, to become women who contribute to their countries and build a more just, human, and respectful world for our planet.

Toutes à l’école has created its own school: Happy Chandara, located 12 km from Phnom Penh. Currently, 1,300 students are enrolled. This school offers comprehensive support to students: education, nutrition, and medical care. Families of girls attending the school are also supported.

The students are accompanied throughout their schooling and university or vocational training until their first job.

Happy Chandara is now a veritable campus with an elementary school, middle school, high school, boarding school, professional training center, and a medical-social center. In September 2018, a residence opened in Phnom Penh to accommodate students pursuing higher education.

A permaculture school teaches local residents healthy agricultural practices, in a region where pesticide use is a real problem.

More than half of the out-of-school children in the world are girls. In poor countries, when a family can afford to educate a child, it's the boy they choose.

Of the 774 million illiterate adults in the world, 2/3 are women.

The education of girls is one of the great challenges of the millennium:

• In countries where women's education progresses, infant mortality and overpopulation decrease.
• The level of education of girls indicates the degree of freedom and democracy in a country.

Why Cambodia? This country, where half the population is under 18, lost 90% of its intellectuals during the Khmer Rouge genocide.

Rebuilding the country is a long-term process that requires everyone's effort. There are some parents who are so poor that they have no choice but to put their children to work from a very early age. Many families live in extreme poverty, leading to malnutrition and hygiene problems.

Public schools hold classes half-time in overcrowded classrooms, and girls often have to leave school after primary school to help their families.

In 2024, we are committed to support a first-grade class at the Happy Chandara School.
